GENERAL ENQUIRIES
Q. Is it possible to only pay for lift maintenance when I need it?
A. The answer is yes!
Traditionally, lift companies have only offered packaged agreements with little flexibility, however, this is starting to change with the ever-increasing demands to reduce the cost of running a building!
Melbourne Elevators is offering commercial and residential lift owners the option to pay for maintenance and repairs as they are required. Generally it is best to enter into an agreement with a lift company so that lift servicing, annual safety checks, and call outs are managed. However, in challenging economic times, some customers prefer the option of a do-and-charge arrangement.
Sometimes, lift owners and owners' corporations will have a gap in their available funds and so can only afford one or two lift services a year or just repairs as and when required. In this situation, lift service do-and-charge can be the preferred option.
It is always important to remember that Worksafe and building insurers view the owners of a lift, or the building that the lift is in, as responsible for routine maintenance, annual safety checks, and 24/7 emergency phone support. The lift company provides only the services that the lift owner requests and so, the lift company is not responsible for lift compliance... Owners need to carefully consider their options and responsibilities when attempting to reduce costs through do-and-charge lift maintenance.
