1. None of our maintenance agreements have lock in clauses so customers are free to exit at any stage.
a. The aim is to foster an atmosphere of cooperation and mutual respect with our customers.
b. A recent lift industry trend is to lock in customers to cheap agreements but then charge excessively for repairs, sometimes many times the agreement price!
c. When customers are locked into long term contracts we have seen them issued lists of repairs for non-existent issues.
2. Customer service is our focus.
a. Melbourne Elevators has to be responsive to customers as customers are not locked in to long term contracts.
b. As business conditions have become more difficult, the multi nationals have cut middle management to reduce costs, this is at the expense of customer service.
c. Melbourne Elevator Maintenance has invested additional funds and resources into customer service.
d. When a customer contacts Melbourne Elevators they can talk to decision makers and get things sorted!
3. Melbourne Elevators is a specialist lift repair, maintenance and modernisation company.
a. We are not distracted by the competing commercial demands of new lift installation.
b. Traditionally, lift maintenance is the stable profit centre that supports the new installation division when projects go bad and this can be often! Maintenance customers, consequently, often pay more than they should to prop up new installations.
4. Traditional quality maintenance is essential, Melbourne Elevators do not believe in the modern practice of 10-15 minute “tick-a-box” maintenance visits.
a. Modern 10-15 minute tick-a-box maintenance only allows for a check of the basic function of buttons and lights etc and possibly re filling rail oilers, if they have time.
b. There is no time for the essential cleaning inside the shaft to prevent grime building up on electrical contacts or grinding away on moving parts.
c. 15 minutes does not allow time to assess potential issues and make adjustments.
d. We require our mechanics to take the time to do their job properly. We are not perfect but we try!
e. All the major companies have adopted this cost saving measure to almost triple their maintenance visits per day per mechanic.
5. Melbourne elevators does not conduct “remote” maintenance.
a. This is a disturbing trend towards remotely logging into a lift control system to assess function and calling this a service visit.
b. Remote logging in does not clean lift shaft components or see or hear potential problems developing, check ride performance, lubricate equipment or adjust items.
c. Remote maintenance visits could be viewed as a “con” to simply reduce company overheads.
6. Melbourne Elevator Maintenance has invested in technical capability.
This enables us to sort out problems that other companies can’t or could not be bothered to fix. With a bit of experience and care Melbourne Elevators can often extend the life of a lift by many years!
7. Experience in Manufacture and Design.
Our staff have designed and manufactured complete lift packages in Melbourne so if customers need new lift control systems or major mechanical solutions we have the experience to fix things locally. This can be a significant cost and time saver for customers.
8. Melbourne Elevator Maintenance holds an extensive range of parts to facilitate quick repairs. We are happy to show customers around our warehouse, to confirm that we have invested in our customers. Please call to make an appointment.
9. We do not encourage “comprehensive maintenance agreements” without carefully explaining exclusions.
a. Modern comprehensive agreements are now so cheap, they do not cover repairs on “obsolete items” or items that have “reached the end of their reasonable working life”. Twenty years ago, genuine comprehensive agreements for low rise lifts were approximately $15,000 to $20,000 in todays money, they are now approximately $5,000!
b. M.E.M. offers a range of maintenance agreements to best suit the statutory needs of customers not the financial desires of our company. Melbourne Elevator Maintenance offers Basic, Standard and Comprehensive maintenance agreements.
Melbourne Elevator Maintenance provides customer-focused elevator servicing in Melbourne with no lock-in contracts, expert lift repairs, and comprehensive maintenance. We prioritise quality service over cost-cutting trends, ensuring thorough inspections, technical expertise, and quick repairs.
On behalf of Melbourne Elevators I trust that the above has highlighted our values and how we differ from other companies. We look forward to hearing from you.
