Stretcher Facilities in lift, as per NCC19

1. Stretcher Facilities Required (Effective height less than 12m)

⁃ For all lifts traveling less than 12m; Minimum cabin size = 1100mm (w) x 1400mm (d) @ 630kg → table E3.6b

⁃ A stretcher facility must accommodate the following minimum dimensions - 600mm (w) x 2000mm (d) x 1400mm (h) → E3.2 (b)

⁃ Therefore for by combining the two points above; Minimum cabin size = 1100mm (w) x 2000mm (d)

⁃ Our closest standard cabin size is 1100mm (w) x 2100mm (d) @ 1000kg, which gives a little bit of extra depth

2. Stretcher Lift (Effective height greater than 12m but less than 25m)

⁃ For travel greater then 12m; Minimum cabin size = 1400mm (w) x 1600mm (d) @ 1000kg → E3.6b

⁃ For a building with an effective height greater than 12m but less than 25m, a stretcher facility must be provided → EP3.2(a)

⁃ Therefore by combining the two points above; Minimum cabin size = 1400mm (w) x 2000mm (d) @1275kg

3. Emergency Lift (Effective height greater than 25m / Class 9a building)

Emergency lift required by either;

⁃ A building with an effective height greater than 25m → EP3.2(a)

⁃ Or for a class 9a building, Patient care areas not serviceable by ground level → EP3.2 (b)

⁃ Minimum cabin size = 1600mm (w) x 2300mm (d) x 2300mm (h) with 1300mm (w) x 2100mm (h) doors @ 2000kg → Table E3.4

Simple conclusion – We will do our very best to quote the correct lift to suit your building, however, please take your lift quote to your building surveyor as this is ultimately their decision.
